★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ther is a small three-story house in the garden. Charged 400 yen. Old guy speaks pretty good english. But i wonder it worths that money.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Be warned: One more other rip-off. It is not worth the money. Even not at the official fee.
However they did charge much more than the official price and "sold" a "guided tour" which 1. is no tour but only some useless explanations on the "tower" 2. is only Japanese, despite I asked in Japanese language if this is really required.
When you read other reviews you see that I'm not the only victim. Overcharging seems to be a systemique problem here.
The bad condition of the garden is a shame for the Mitsui business Group. They should not allow such miss-use of their name.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful, well-preserved machiya (town house) with a lovely garden. I could imagine how wealthy merchants would have lived in the olden days in houses like that! Great experience if you’ve seen enough temples and shrines

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A really nice and peaceful house you can visit for a low fee. It was made like a traditional Japanese house years back. We got a nice history lesson of the building by the staff and after that we admired the interior, exterior and garden. All great to see at least once.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This house used to be a second house of Mitsui family who was the owner of the biggest company group in Japan at that time. You can see the Mitui's historical house, beautiful garden as well as learn the history of Mitsui family here. Mitsui family dated back to 17th century. One great merchant, Takatoshi Mitsui, started his own business and the family had prospered for centuries. Their history is deeply linked to Japanese modern history so you may be interested in it if you like it.
