J	Jon Frisk on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Giro gets recommend as being the cheapest kaiseki-like meal in Kyoto, however I don’t understand where people get that comparison from. The food was good but somehow trying to be fancy without having the chops to really pull it off. Arrangements where mostly very well executed but the taste was not particularly refined and the combination of flavors was a bit hit and miss. Service, even though being very sweet, was a bit clumsy and insecure making the whole experience feeling somehwat shaky. Whenever the door got opened to the staff room, the whole upper floor where we were seated started smelling of old cigarette smoke, so much that we almost lost appetite. However it showed out that it wasnt cigarettes but the smoked tea that gets served for dessert. All in all 5000¥ is a pretty good deal for a meal like this, but some adjustments could heighten the experience.
C	C Lam on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The best meal I had in Japan. A bit of a trek to get to but well worth the journey. Staff were accommodating and our waitress spoke very good English and was able to recommend dishes for us. Seafood was so fresh!

The food was mildly interesting but not all that enjoyable, and the restaurant was nearly entirely Western tourists. Defiantly would pass on this.

The food is amazing; flavours that are really well combined and completely different from our Western diet. They have an open kitchen, it's a pleasure to watch the chefs preparing all the food. We had a lovely evening!

A true entrepreneurial chef who battled tremendous hardships but believed in his vision to create a one of a kind experience. To his benefit has locations in Paris, Hawaii, Tokyo & Kyoto. Everything is made to perfection and has enormous amounts of detail put into each dish. Reservations are a must and if you can get a seat on the first floor then don't miss out.

J	Julie Taeko on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It’s an absolutely amazing meal of Kaiseki seasonal foods that are made right in front of you. And the chefs are down-to-earth and love talking with their customers. It’s a wonderful place to go if you want to spend a few hours enjoying a peaceful dinner. I took quite a few pictures and a short video. Overall, it’s the best 8 or 9- course meal you can get in Kyoto for around ¥4300! The atmosphere is nice too. It’s a small and quaint restaurant with a small river running alongside it. And part of the appeal of the restaurant, is it’s hard to find in a residential area.
