★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Felt like I got scammed here. The udon was extremely expensive and the service was near mediocre. Very small portions, the soup was light (about all i can say), the udon is cook alright (you can't rrly mess up cooking udon). No menus outside, went in because of the high reviews, definitely my bad for not reading the poor reviews. Will never be back. Rather go to a chain ramen shop like Hanamaru Udon and eat 3 bowls of ramen instead of 1.
Only thing I can say is the decor is very unique and old school as we had to take off our shoes.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Decided to try this store that is off the main road in Gion. The place was quite traditional in it's decor and seating on the straw mat. Service was excellent with the staff trying to help us as much as possible despite the language difference. Staff was always looking to serve us tea and attending to our needs.
We tried two dishes, the udon with fishcake and mushrooms, and the tamago don. Their udon had an interesting taste to it, almost like that of chicken essence. While not the taste I am used to, it is flavourful and unique.
The tamago don was a bit like a scrambled egg dish with rice. It looks delicious on the photo and the taste was much more subtle and fitting for a simple breakfast. Price wise, it is a little higher than expected, at least 1000 yen each for the above dishes with meat options from 1600 yen.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Quite local experience. I have not tried this tipe of dishes before, so I liked. We went for lunch and it was enough. The soup had smokey flavor, so unusual.

Ordered the soba noodle with duck and soba noodle with tofu. Soup was very tasty and soba noodles were great. Was a bit pricey for the portion size (900¥ for the soba and tofu and 1700¥ for soba and duck).
