Stele: Manabe Akikatsu (1802-84) was the lord of the Sabae domain in Echizen, and became a senior citizen after serving as a magistrate of temples and shrines, Osaka Jodai, and Kyoto Shoshidai. He retired due to Tadakuni Mizuno (1794-1851), but was reappointed to the old age by Naosuke Ii (1815-60), and while dealing with the issue of succession to the general and the conclusion of the Ansei Treaties, he suppressed the Sonno Jōi faction. In September 1858, he moved to Tokyo to persuade Emperor Komei (1831-66), who was furious at the Japan-US Treaty of Amity and Commerce signed by the Shogunate, and stayed at Myomanji Temple under Teramachi-dori Nijo. This stone marker shows the remains of Myomanji Temple where Manabe Akikatsu stayed. Myomanji moved to Iwakura in 1967. In 1858, Manabe Akikatsu, the feudal lord of Echizen Sabae (now Fukui Prefecture), stayed at the temple, which was relocated to Iwakura Hataeda, and commanded the suppression of a priest called Ansei Purge. It is said that it was done. When Naosuke Ii became an elder and signed the Treaty of Amity and Commerce between Japan and the United States without receiving a royal court, the opposition from the Sonnojoi faction increased. Elder Ii sent a treaty today to negotiate with the imperial court and began to suppress the scholars. After entering Kyoto in September 1858, he stayed until March of the following year, negotiated with the imperial court and public houses, and commanded the town magistrate's office, arresting Umeda Unpin and other scholars one after another. Later, he disagreed with Elder Ii and was dismissed from the old man and was punished. Kyoto City 京都市
