★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Located near the Nishiki Market, this store is easy to find. Likewise every Animate store, it has most of the stuff but not much as other stores. (Just a bit smaller than the stores in Osaka and Tokyo). If you are into doujinshis, try going to toranoana or mandarake for a wider variety. Enjoyed my stay here, grabbed a few merch on the way out :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The picture is the entrance up to the shop. It sells almost every popular mangas and anime DVD's, trading cards and souvenirs. Really good service too. Ask if you can't find a book you want.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Decent sized store on one floor just off from the main street. It has most any Manga you will want and a few items like badges and small things. Not the place for figures but always good and a fair few gatchapon out front, right in Teramachi Dori so there's plenty to do around.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A gorgeous store and a must-visit for any Anime fan visiting Kyoto. All items here are new, so expect to pay cover price for CDs, DVDs, manga, and more. Unlike many Animate stores, this one is all on one floor and they seemed to be a little more than half the girls-focused products rather than boys. Good for me but maybe not for everyone else. This store is located right inside Nishiki Market, so it's easy to visit while checking out dozens of other shops of all kinds.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The only Animate store in Kyoto as far as I know. Same huge selection and awesome customer service like in Tokyo. The only difference being the absent crowds, making the Kyoto store much much more comfortable to shop at. It is a bit hidden so watch for the stairs up and gatcha mahines.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good selection of merchandise from a lot of popular series, but not many from older shows. Several aisles of idol anime products. Small doujinshi section, mostly BL titles. Service is always friendly.
