A museum where you can trace the history of Fukushima Prefecture from the primitive era to the modern era. There are many highlights and it is worth seeing. There are so many exhibits, and I was impressed with what I have collected so far. There is also a full-scale reproduction, which can be remembered at that time. I think that even those who are not good at history can spend a meaningful time.

Visited in mid-November 2021. The exterior of the building looks like a museum, but the interior is cool. A tunnel that looks like a time slip at the entrance of a permanent exhibition in a large atrium hall. In addition, the main exhibition room has a high ceiling, so there is little oppressive feeling on the exhibition volume. There is a large parking lot and you can use it free of charge.

The admission fee is 280 yen for general individuals. The museum exhibits in chronological order and by genre. It's pretty impressive. There are some valuable exhibits in Fukushima prefecture. I took a leisurely tour for about an hour. On your way home, have a coffee at the on-site cafe I drank it. We recommend you to visit.

This is a very complete depiction of the history of Fukushima prefecture, going back as far as the pre-human times, and as recent as post-war years. The museum is layed out well and is very spacious. Admission is only ¥280 at the time of writing. The only two downsides: You're not allowed to take pictures everywhere. And not a single cubic millimetre is spent on the recent events around the nuclear disaster, which you'd probably kind of expect in a museum about Fukushima's history. On the plus side, it's one of the few tourist attractions that has free parking.

Great prefecture museum. Its well laid out and spacious. Good way to spend a rainy morning or afternoon. Its located a stones throw from the castle. The museum and castle are walkable, though a bit far from the train station. You can also take a bus There's a convenience store nearby and a small cafe inside for snacks.
