山田重忠の館跡です…と言われても、ほとんどの方は「山田重忠って誰？」と言うと思います。しかし、かく言う私も少し前に坂井孝一著の『承久の乱』を読んで知ったばかりなので、大きなことは言えませんが（笑）。前著によると、山田重忠は承久の乱の時に朝廷側で戦った武士です。これだけ聞くと、結果を知っている私達から見れば、負けた朝廷側に付いたなんて先見の明の無い人物だなと思う人もいるかもしれませんが、あの時、尾張・美濃の武士は朝廷側に付いた者も多かったのです。実際、幕府の御家人でも朝廷側に付いた者もいたぐらいですから。しかしこの山田重忠は最後の最後まで幕府軍と戦いました。美濃の墨俣の戦いで敗れた後も杭瀬川、瀬田で幕府軍と戦い続けました。そしてそこでも負けて最後の戦いと後鳥羽上皇の元に赴くのですが、上皇からは無情にも見捨てられてしまいました。しかしそれでも幕府軍と戦い、嵯峨野の奥に落ちていき最期は自害したそうです。来年の大河ドラマは北条義時を主人公にした「鎌倉殿の13人」だそうですが、それは今年2021年が承久の乱八百年の年だからだと思います（ちなみに承久の乱勃発は承久三年(1221)五月十五日です）。私は大河ドラマに山田重忠が登場することはないと思いますが、この機会に山田重忠を大いに世間に知らしめてはどうかと思います。

He lost there and went to the final battle and Emperor Go-Toba, but he was ruthlessly abandoned by the emeritus. However, he still fought against the Shogunate army and fell into the depths of Sagano, and at the end he committed suicide. Next year's taiga drama is said to be "The 13 Lords of the Kamakura-den" with Hojo Yoshitoki as the main character, but I think that this year 2021 is the year of the 800th anniversary of the Jokyu War (by the way, the outbreak of the Jokyu War).
