★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 織田信秀が築いた最後の居城です。信秀はこの城で最期を迎えました。平城である古渡城から平山城である末盛城に移ったのは、今川に対する備えと云われています。
信秀は生涯において、居城を勝幡から那古野、古渡、末盛と移しています。そして息子の信長も居城を那古野から清洲、小牧山、岐阜、安土と移しています。このように、居城を移した親子は他にはいません。信長が目的に合わせて居城を移すという政策は父・信秀から学んだものと考えられています。信長もさることながら、父の信秀も優れた武将だったようですね。
城跡はかつての空堀や土塁の跡がよく残っています。また城跡からの眺めはとても良いです。信秀や信長に想いを馳せながら散策するにはもってこいの場所だと思います。

In this way, no other parent and child have moved their residence. Nobunaga's policy of moving his residence according to his purpose is believed to have been learned from his father, Nobuhide. Nobunaga, as well as his father, seemed to be an excellent warlord.
The ruins of the castle often have traces of former moats and earthworks. The view from the castle ruins is also very good. I think it is a great place to take a walk while thinking about Nobuhide and Nobunaga.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 末森城は、織田信長の父信秀が、三河の今川に対する防備を目的に、1548(天文17)年、東山の丘陵の地形を利用して作った城。しかし、翌年信秀は病死、信長の弟信行が城主となったが、信長と対立した。まもなく、信行は信長に殺され、1558(永禄元)年廃城となった。今では、境内にある「末森城址」の石標と空堀が昔の名残をとどめている。なお現在、丘の上には城山八幡宮が祀られている。
(Wikipediaから引用)末森城は、東山丘陵地の末端に位置する標高43メートルの丘に、東西約180メートル、南北約150メートルの規模で築城された平山城である。地形を利用して斜面の中腹に幅10-16メートルの空堀を備えていた[11][12]。そのうちの内堀北の虎口には、構造的に非常に珍しい「三日月堀」と称される半月形の丸馬出があったらしいが、現在は残っていない。
現在でも深さ7メートルほどの空堀跡など、遺構がよく残っている。馬出や総構えの構造が見られることから、現在みられる遺構は1584年頃、当時尾張を支配していた織田信雄が小牧・長久手の戦いに備えて整備したものと考えられている。
現状
本丸跡地は城山八幡宮の神域、二の丸跡地には愛知県が建設した旧・昭和塾堂が建っているが、後に城山八幡宮に払い下げられ、建物は現在愛知学院大学に貸与されている。また城山八幡宮内に末森城址の石碑が建っており、城の名は末盛通として残った。
Suemori Castle was built by Nobunaga Oda's father, Nobuhide, in 1548 (Tenbun 17) using the hills of Higashiyama for the purpose of defending Mikawa against Imakawa. However, the following year, Nobuhide died of illness, and Nobunaga's younger brother Nobunaga became the castellan, but he confronted Nobunaga. Soon after, Nobunaga was killed by Nobunaga, and the castle was abandoned in 1558 (Eiroku 1). Now, the stone marker and the empty moat of "Suemori Castle Remains" in the precincts retain the remnants of the old days. Currently, Shiroyama Hachimangu is enshrined on the hill.
(Quoted from Wikipedia) Suemori Castle is a Hirayama castle built on a hill at an altitude of 43 meters at the end of the Higashiyama hill, about 180 meters east-west and about 150 meters north-south. Utilizing the terrain, it was equipped with an empty moat 10-16 meters wide on the middle of the slope. [11] [12] It seems that there was a half-moon-shaped round Maidashi called "Mikazukibori", which is structurally very rare, at the Koguchi in the north of Uchibori.
Even now, there are many remains such as the remains of an empty moat with a depth of about 7 meters. It is believed that the remains that are currently seen were prepared around 1584 by Nobukatsu Oda, who ruled Owari at that time, in preparation for the battle between Komaki and Nagakute, as the structure of Maidashi and the total stance can be seen.
Current status
The former site of Honmaru is the sanctuary of Shiroyama Hachimangu, and the former Showa Jukudo built by Aichi Prefecture is built on the site of Ninomaru, but it was later paid off to Shiroyama Hachimangu and the building is now rented to Aichi Gakuin University. In addition, a stone monument of the ruins of Suemori Castle was built in Shiroyama Hachimangu, and the name of the castle remained as Suemoritori.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 織田信長の父信秀の居城跡。現在は城山八幡宮が建ち本丸の周囲は神域とされフェンスが張られフェンス越しからでしか堀や石垣を見ることができない。本丸から一段下がった場所にも堀がありこちらは降りてみることも可能で意外と規模の大きな堀に圧倒される。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 城山八幡宮の駐車場手前は道が狭いので注意して下さい。石碑は門の右手側にあり、名古屋の街並みが観られます。左手側には本丸の案内板があります。全体的に、立派な神社なので、史跡というよりも神社という感じです。
Please note that the road is narrow in front of the parking lot of Shiroyama Hachimangu. The stone monument is on the right side of the gate, and you can see the cityscape of Nagoya. There is a guide plate for the main enclosure on the left hand side. Overall, it's a magnificent shrine, so it's more like a shrine than a historic site.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 城跡の印しかありませんが現在のここからは穏やかな町並みが見えます。城の時代に想いを馳せると一面畑や田んぼだった。。。めちゃくちゃロマンを感じます。現在は神社が建っていて社務所もあります。神社前に駐車場も有りますので検索してお出かけください。。
