From "Yonezawa Shrine, Domiya 6-Yamagami District-"
Zao Shrine, the guardian of the Misawa area, is said to have been built for a long time (1040-1043), but details are unknown. Furthermore, the shrine was built at the location of Oku-no-in on the top of the mountain, but it was relocated to its current location for the convenience of worship. The building tag states that the current shrine was built in 1881.
It seems that if you go up the shrine further, you will reach the inner temple, but you give up because the approach to the shrine was devastated. In addition, the entire mountain where Oku-no-in is located was a mountain castle called Misawakan.
In addition, the approach to the shrine is neatly maintained by stairs, but the lower part of the stone towers next to the entrance to the shrine is buried in concrete. Mt. Iide, Mt. Kinka, and Mt. Yudono are lined up in this order from the left along with the child-rearing Jizoson.

Zao Shrine is located in the middle of the low mountains of the Yamagami Misawa village in the Sekine district of Yonezawa city. It seems that it was built about 1000 years ago.
At the top of this mountain is the "Misawakan Ruins", a mountain castle built by Hida Mamoru Tomizawa, a vassal of the Date clan who ruled the gifts from the Muromachi period to the Warring States period. Although it has not been maintained, if you pass by the Zao Shrine and climb the mountain further, you will continue to the site of the Misawakan.
I don't know the history of Zao Shrine, but according to tradition, it seems that Ihiko Fujizaemon protected the front of the Misawakan. The village of Misawa Yamagami itself is thought to be the site of the Misawa Shimokan of the vassals who served the Misawakan, and since the son of this Zao Shrine is also Mr. Ihiko, even after Mr. Date left Yonezawa, his descendants are still there. It seems that they have inherited and protected their intentions.
Many monkeys live in this mountain, so in early spring the precincts are rough with fallen leaves and feces, but cherry blossoms and camellias bloom beautifully.
In addition, you can overlook the Sekine area. Until the Meiji era, the highway that passed through Sekine was the main highway to the Fukushima side, so I think that the samurai were watching the people coming into Yonezawa from here.
It's a good location as long as it's clean. It is a good place to tell the history of Mr. Date in Yonezawa and to see cherry blossoms.
It's a place you want to cherish with Sekine's Fumonin and Haguro Shrine.
