Participants in the annual Kushi Matsuri (comb festival - 櫛まつり) are walking towards the Kushizuka (a comb grave mound) to attend a purifying and memorial service at the Yasui Konpira-Gu (安井金比羅宮) in Kyoto. All the traditional hair styles, from the ancient times to the present day Maiko are represented. The hair styles are made with natural hair and require very skilled techniques to implement. Every year members of Kyoto Beauty Culture Club recreate these traditional Japanese hairstyles. The ladies are waiting for the purifying and memorial service at the Yasui Konpira-Gu (安井金比羅宮) in Kyoto to commence.

Cut off bad connection (e.g. bad habit, human relationship) and establish good connection. How to pray 1.Write down your wishes on the paper 2.Go through the monument from front to back to cut off bad connection while holding the wish paper and praying. 3.Go through the monument from back to front in the same manner. 4.Paste your wish paper on the monument. Recommended to visit here early in the morning (open 24H). It may be very crowded during the day.

This shrine is a lovely stop if you're wandering down Hanamikoji in Gion. It's spacious but still manages to feel intimate. What's unique about this particular shrine is the large stone with a hole in the center. One writes a wish on the special piece of paper provided, holds it in hand as he passes through the stone twice (back and forth) then attaches the wish to the stone. As with all shrines and temples, be respectful of the people who are there to worship.

Beautiful and sacred shrine close to Kiyomizu-dera .. It is believed that if you willingly climb across the tunnel, all bad things that you want to cut down can be diminished..

With over 1,000 temples and shrines, you bet there’s one for every wishes one can think of. This one is the “Break-up” temple. Japanese comes here to pray for anything to do with breaking up, not just to heal after breaking up from a relationship but it cal also be with bad lucks, misfortune and pray for better days to come. Or some come to pray for, said a love interest of yours, breaking up with their partner/spouse so you stand a chance!

For keeping harmful relationships away or breaking up with someone. Visit here and crawl through the stone. Also good for married couples and couples with a good relationship yo protect its well being. If you do not believe all this mumbo jumbo, than it is a nice place to take a picture of yourself crawling in a hole in a rock.

A beautiful shrine in the middle of Kyoto. To promote good luck, it is suggested to climb through the hole of a rock, but this is fairly small. For most of Europeans this action might pose a challenge. Don't attempt it, difficult to regain freedom, once stuck ?
