Wariishi - Tagajō

Once upon a time when building the embankment of the Kanagawa (Nanakita River), I caught a woman who passed by and made it a pillar. Every night after that, the ghost of a woman, who was made into a pillar, appeared and cried, so people were afraid and could not approach this place. The samurai who heard it waited for the ghost to appear and slashed. The ghost disappeared after the response. The next morning when I saw the area, the stone was broken in two. There are many stories about human pillars in the downstream part of the seven Kitada River where I live. Therefore, even if this legend was a myth, the story of "human pillar" would have been very real story to old people. In the area where I live, It seems that the person who became the pillar was some sort of sinner. The enforcer would have had to be a sinner or a stranger to justify himself. It seems that the method was very brutal. It seems that he erected a person on a pillar, dug a hole of several meters, and set up a pillar upside down while living there. I heard from my grandmother that I slowly returned the soil and buried it alive. People are unable to move and fear is at its highest when they are put in the dark. It must have been a tragedy. To that extent, the flooding of rivers has plagued people in the region.

It seems that there is a legend of a lonesome human pillar at the time, but now the beautiful cherry blossoms bloom in spring and it is popular as a place of relaxation for the nearby people.
