★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 清水小路を水源とする湧き水を利用してつくられた農業用水で、生活用水も兼ねていた。伊達政宗が灌漑技術者として重用した川村孫兵衛がつくったといわれる堀です。そして、ここがその堀の起点となった場所です。その堀は榴ヶ岡駅までつづいていたそうです。
今はもう見ることができなくなったけれど、この水は茶畑などを潤していたのですよ。
 Agricultural water was created using spring water from the Shimizu-koji as a water source, and also served as domestic water. This moat is said to have been created by Date Masamune Kawamura, a professor of Date Masamune as an irrigation engineer. And here is where the moat started. It seems that the moat continued up to Karigaoka Station.
Now it can no longer be seen, but this water has moistened the tea plantations.
