Why do you think you should make it on a tomb (tumulus), even if it is the bust of the person you respect? The answer is simple, because we don't understand its cultural value. To understand it this place is ★★★★★.

It was built from the middle to the latter half of the 5th century, and in the Tohoku region, it seems that it was a relatively large front-recessed circle, but now the front part has been scraped by city streets. There seems to be a legend that the warrior of the Heian period, Taro Yahata (Genjiya), prayed for the victory with a spear. The bust on the back circle seems to be from a person named Yoshibei Numakura who worked at the Miyagi Prefectural Agricultural School.

The Kabutozuka Ancient Tomb is located in the southern part of the city, about 2 km south of JR Sendai Station, at the northern end of the ground of Sendai Minami High School in Miyagi Prefecture. Located in the alluvial plain at the eastern end of Dainenjiyama. The altitude is 17m to 18m, the estimated scale is about 75m in spindle length, the diameter of the rear circle is 62.4m, the height of the rear circle is 6.8m, and the area is about 10,000m2. A survey was conducted by the Miyagi Prefectural Board of Education in 1977 and 1988. At present, a circular mound with a diameter of about 50 m remains, but the hem and peripheral groove of the mound have been confirmed by two surveys. Since the outer edge of the peripheral groove is horseshoe-shaped, it was found to be a keyhole-shaped tumulus of the scallop type.

Located in the southern part of the city, about 2 km south of Sendai Station, at the northern end of the Minami High School site. Located in the alluvial plain at the eastern end of Dainenjiyama. The altitude is 17m-18m, the estimated scale is about 75m in spindle length, the diameter of the rear circle is 62.4m, the height of the rear circle is 6.8m, and the area is about 10,000㎡. Surveyed by the prefectural board of education in 1977 and 1988. A circular hill with a diameter of about 50m still exists. Two surveys confirmed the hem of the mound and the circumferential groove. Since the outer edge of the peripheral groove is horseshoe-shaped, it turned out to be a scallop type. Fragments of a cylindrical tomb ring and a morning glory-shaped tomb ring were excavated, and it is thought that they were built in the latter half of the middle Kofun period (late 5th century) due to their characteristics. Haniwa is similar to the one excavated at the Tomizawa kiln site, and may have been made by the same group of workers. I found a river stone-roofed stone on the slope of the mound. The main body has not been investigated. It is the largest burial mound in the city since the latter half of the middle period, and it is considered to be a chief-class burial mound because it has not only haniwa but also fukiishi. ..... At the top of the burial mound, there was a statue of Yoshibei Numakura, the creator of Sendai Chinese vegetables. The front and rear circles of the mound are partially cut off by the road on the north side. I was able to visually confirm that it had at least a two-stage configuration. Many ancient burial mounds were built around here, but most of them seem to have disappeared due to land development.
