It is an archeological site in the city. I see people with light clothing, but there are a lot of insects and snakes and bad scaffolding. Also, it is hard to find in summer because the grass is overgrown.

There is a steep cliff where the flow of the Hirose River has been cut off, just north of Atagoyama where Ehime Shrine is built. Several side holes open in the middle of the cliff. It is said that there were more than 30 graves of side-hole tombs created from the latter half of the 7th century to the first half of the 8th century. Due to the effects of residential land development and road construction, the actual number has been reduced to around 10. Speaking of old burial mounds that you often see, they have a structure with a lot of soil, such as the front and rear cypresses, cypresses, and fountains, but unlike those burial mounds, there is a unique atmosphere that you can't say anything. I'm surprised that such old remains remain in the city.

A wonderful and mysterious place. It's hard to know how to get off. I don't think the locals know much. A road extension has been made on a flat surface southeast of Atago Shrine, and three ancient human bones have emerged and a temple is erected. Even so, why is there a hole in the high place? How did you go in and out?

The water supply facility also feels good. However, in the summer, weeds were growing and I couldn't get close to it, so I could only see two of them.

I did not know the way to go down even if I searched on the map, but I finally arrived, but it was in a place I thought. The real thing is quite amazing. I wanted to see what was next to the hydroelectric power station.

When I was in elementary school Like a secret base with a few friends It's also the place I played [From the Sendai City Board of Education] The Atagoyama Yokoana Tomb Group is located in the southern part of the city, about 2km south of JR Sendai Station, and south of the Atago Bridge over the Hirose River. It is located on the hillside at the eastern end of the Aobayama hill on the right bank of the Hirose River. The area of the ruins is about 27,500 m2. So far, the sixth survey has been carried out along with the construction of city planning roads and residential land, and three points, point A on the north slope and points B and C on the southwest slope, have been confirmed. A total of 33 cave tombs have been confirmed so far in the range of 20 to 28 m above sea level. In the third survey in 1991 at point B, 15 of the 18 cave tombs were surveyed, and it was pointed out that they consisted of around 5 cave tombs. The plane shape of each cave tomb is rectangular, square, or inverted trapezoid, and the elevation shape is dome-shaped, arch-shaped, or house-shaped. The size of the chamber ranges from a small one with a width of 1 m or less to a large one with a width of more than 3 m, but it is generally around 2 m. Although it is difficult to determine the exact age due to the small number of excavated relics, it is thought to belong to the Kofun period to the Nara period from the latter half of the 7th century to the first half of the 8th century. Of particular note is the discovery of a cave tomb (1 unit) with a decorative mural in a secondary survey in 1976. A pattern based on a circular pattern is drawn on the back wall of the chamber using red pigment, and a sword and five human bones have been excavated from the chamber. These ages are estimated to be from the latter half of the 7th century to the beginning of the 8th century, based on the Haji pottery excavated along the left wall of the Sendo. In the Sendai Plain, the construction of cave tombs began in the early 7th century and peaked from the middle to the latter half of the 7th century. Around this time, it is believed that a government agency was built at the Koriyama site, which is located about 1.5 km southeast. The cave tombs, which were run from the latter half of the 7th century to the beginning of the 8th century, are archaeological sites formed during the social change of the establishment of the Ritsuryo society. It is a valuable archaeological site.

When I was a kid, I saw a lot of horizontal holes along the mountain beyond Shishiochizaka, but no one could tell me anything. I remember that there were some houses that were closed with nets and doors and used as garbage storage. I've entered a relatively new side hole closed with an iron door, with 4-5 junior high school friends. Is it a dolly inside? There was a railroad track, and there was a trace that the electric wire was also routed to the insulator, there was a square vertical hole (stairs?) whose depth was unknown, and when I went ahead of the railroad track, it was pitch black but it was flooded and there was no flashlight. I was scared and couldn't proceed, so I gave up, but I regret it a little.

By the way, I went to the Atagoyama side graves I was interested in. There is only an old display, you cannot go to the side. The Jomon people probably dug a horizontal hole because they thought that the water level would not rise at that height. It seems to be brittle because it is tuff.
