★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The signature oyakodon (chicken and egg on rice) is very well done although tbh if you don't care for the finesse, the oyakodon at Family Mart is not any bit less tasty and fetches better value plus shorter wait. But if you really want to experience the quaint retro eatery vibe then for sure you have to check out this place; though be forewarned, the karaage set there is very mediocre, so to play safe, stick to the oyakodon

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The place is tiny but well loved by the locals. When I arrived it was empty and the owners were watching sumo matches on NHK. The food was fantastic yet simple. Wish I got some karaage as well as I saw another customer got but it was a bit too much chicken! I would go again. The owners didn't really speak English but the menus had pictures and given that you're there for the Oyako-don, not much need to be said. There is another restaurant near Pontocho hidden away too but I think this is the original

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Recommended for those who love scrambled eggs. Oyakodon here is quite plain with only umami flavour and bit "oomph" from sanso, but there are shoyu or salt in the table. Karaagedon was more recommended for those who like extra cryspiness, and teishoku menu is karaage with rice, not much. This place usually packed with only 12 person inside (4+2+1x6) so expect a line. Thus, with that in consideration, if you come here to eat the teishoku menu you better off somewhere else.
