Highly recommended for people who like photography and architecture. If you are not interested, you may finish watching in about 15 minutes. It's fun to find a shining angle because you can shoot in the hall unless it's a close-up shot or a flash.

The old temple pilgrimage can be seen many times, so it is a place I often visit. Also, Mt. Chokai seen over the lake is wonderful.

Last time, when I came to Sakata, I couldn't bother because I didn't have time, so I visited again. However, it was a pity that I couldn't concentrate on the photo exhibition, the camera and lens used by Ken Domon, and so on, because the people who came in with me were not very conscious. If there are 70,000 photographs, can we increase the number of exhibits a little more? I have thought Nante. It is an era when Daido Moriyama's work becomes UNIQLO's U-T. I wanted children to take good control of their children. Parents showed no interest in the children running around the exhibition hall, and I wondered what it would be like for them to take a camp in front of the same exhibit and not make a tremor.

I went to the Ken Domon Museum. Ken Domon, known as a world-famous photographer, was born in 1909 in Sakata Town (currently Sakata City). When he became the first honorary citizen of Sakata City in 1974, he donated about 70,000 works to the city, and in response to this, he was the first individual photo exhibition hall in the world. The building opened in October 1983. At the memorial hall, all of Mr. Domon's works are stored, and the exhibits are changed several times a year and introduced one by one. The black-and-white photographs before the war were also good. The picture of the Buddha image means that after the cerebral infarction, the half of the body became immobile and began to be taken. The photos of the victims of the Hiroshima atomic bomb were also interesting.

Building was nice in some parts, though a little imposing and seemingly designed without the scenery in mind.

This was an interesting place to visit and spend and hour or two looking at a large collection of Ken Damon’s work. Very worthwhile and recommended.

What a surprise. A beautiful Taniguchi building for one of the most renowned Japanese photojournalists (and temple photographer). Worth a stop or a detour if you’re traveling the northwest coast of Japan.
