★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 清亀園は、文化財指定は受けていないようですが、所有は酒田市のものになっていて、庭園は無料で観賞できます。この庭園は、明治24年に北前船交易で財を成した本間家と並び称せられた大地主の伊藤四郎右衛門家の別邸として築造されたもので、名庭師・山田挿遊によって作られたそうです。規模は縮小されましたが、庭木や池泉、石灯籠、庭石などが美しく配置されていました。現在は貸館施設となっていて、お茶会や笛の会などに利用されているそうです。
