THE ALDGATE British Pub

Beer was good (3 stars), lady at the bar very attentive and friendly (3 stars). Bar itself had a weird atmosphere...which was a shame. I suppose I expected somewhere more "alive"...(Had to give a rating, so I gave 1 star, I would have given less if possible).

One of the best Irish experience around.

A couple minutes of walk from Hachiko gate, Shibuya Sta.. Down "Center Street". Staff members are nice n' friendly both British and Japanese. The Aldgate lovers consist, half and half, of either cheerful foreigners living in Japan or local Shibuya strollers. Good place to always stop by at.

Great pub. Only place I've been to outside of the UK with hand-pump ales.

Good bar located in the center of Shibuya. Drinks were tasty and the food was also good. Wait staff was friendly. The atmosphere was also nice!

Classic English Pub with more than 16 years (as I personally can confirm) history. The prices are now more suitable to regular ones. Large choice of draft beers, including Jever Pilsner and Erdinger Weizenbier.

Beer? Good. Atmosphere? Good.

This used to be my favourite pub. Went there a couple of days ago, as it's smoke free, and the food is usually excellent. Last year they had the best fish and chips in Tokyo. This time, the bar staff started the conversation in Japanese (she is European and not a native speaker or a very good speaker of Japanese) when we went to order, so we did the polite thing and continued speaking in the language she chose. We are all native Japanese and English speakers (one Japanese parent, one Australian/Canadian parent), and the three of us have lived in Japan our whole adult lives. She got our order wrong. She brought over one plate of undercooked fish and chips for 3 people. We ordered two servings of fish and chips, and some Poitine, she put a stack of tiny empty plates on the table, and then rushed away. Only one other table were there. We had to go up and re order the rest of the food, which was also not hot. None of us can drink alcohol, due to pregnancy and one of us being 19, so we asked the same blonde female bartender to make a bloody Mary without vodka. This was too difficult for her. She had to get the manager. We asked three times for malt vinegar, but she had trouble understanding what we said, we tried in two languages, this is a British pub. The poutine was pretty awful. Cold, and sprinkled with cheddar cheese, none of it even hot enough to be slightly melted, a small serving size. The second serving of fish and chips was tiny and cold in the middle, undercooked and half the size of the first, half an hour after we ordered. While it's still my favourite pub, and I will go back when I can drink alcohol again, I hope that the food improves and I never se that useless blonde bartender again.
