highly recommended, must try.... chef Kondo is 72 years old, you can tell from his hands how experience he is... recommended to order omakase instead of set dinner. advanced booking is required

their English name is not on their signboard, so look for the door and sign as in my photos and take the lift to the ninth floor. the tempura was skillfully fried, and it was my first time having a tempura omakase that was in so fancy an environment. for a restaurant deep-drying food in front of you, the smell of the oil was very well-contained, and it was cool watching the master at work (he fries everything and also makes the batter). while the food was 4 stars, the service from the english-speaking staff was outstanding, so I'm giving this place 5 stars. the smaller lunch menu is 6500 yen without tax, and has 2 prawns, 4 types of vegetables and 3 or 4 fish, rice, soup, and dessert. it's a lot of food for lunch, I have to admit. my biggest concern is the amount of paper used and thrown away at this restaurant - they change the paper on your plate after every dish, and the serving chef also uses a huge amount of kitchen towels when cutting the tempura. but i guess that’s part of the Omotenashi Japanese hospitality to ensure the cleanest experience for the customer.

Tempura in perfection. I’m amazed by how well chef Kondo controls the timing. Everything is fried in just the right amount of the time. All fishes are delicious, but the most unforgettable dish was actually white asparagus, crispy outside but very juicy inside. I also had tempura uni for the first time. Staffs were also very friendly despite their limited English proficiency.

Pretty good but wasn’t blown away. The shrimp and fish seemed to be the highlight so if you don’t eat these, perhaps avoid. But cute setting and great service.

Sumire lunch course was fantastic. All items were cooked to perfection, thus releasing the true flavor locked in the ingredients. The tempura cloak was well balance with each different ingredients. Let's not missed the extra item that I added: Sweet potato. It might probably be the best tempura sweet potato that I have eaten. Floral honey scented, while has a earthy sweetness and smooth creamy texture OMG! Extra please! All in all, it might be a little extravagant but if you're a tempura fan, stop by this old tempura establishment

Do not miss the carrot. Amazing to watch them make and super fun to eat. Next best were the lotus root, Shrimp (especially the head!), thin fish, mushroom. In the mid-tier was the uni, which was pretty and interesting but could be skipped. The whitefish, onion, eel and and white asparagus were good, but less so than the others mentioned.

Best tempura meal I've ever had! Really fresh seafood and perfectly cooked veggies. Ended the meal with a kakiage ten don. Lunch menu has pretty good value for 8900 yen.

If you want to try proper Tempura, I strongly recommend this restaurant. You should try carrot and sweet potato tempura. You can also see fresh ingredients and cooking in front of you.
