T	Tadashi Imai on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 祇園祭の宵々山（七月十五日）から還幸祭（同二十四日）の間だけ開放される井戸がある。オフィスビルが立ち並ぶ一角。鍵がかかった木の柵の中に、しめ縄で飾られた石の鳥居があり、額には「八坂神社　御手洗井」と記されている。鳥居の奥に井戸があり、くみ上げた水が絶えることなく流れ出ている。この地には、かつて祇園御旅所があり、祭られている牛頭（ごず）天皇に、毎日この井戸の水を霊水として供えていたという。一五六八（永禄十一）年に御旅所を移転させた織田信長も、水質が良いため、祇園祭の間は井戸を開放させたとされる。管理しているのは、井戸が町名の由来になった「手洗水町」の人たち。毎年七月十五日に、遙拝式という井戸開きの儀式を営み、しめ縄を新調して、ちまきやトビウオの干物を供える。井戸の二件隣にある呉服製造卸会社「安田多七」の安田守男会長（74）は「小規模ですが、私たちにとっては祇園祭の大事な儀式です」と話す。 There is a well that is open only from the Gion Festival Mt. 清	清水英利 on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 祇園祭限定の名水　御手洗井戸御手洗井戸は、御旅所の社務・藤井助正の邸宅にあった井戸で、助正は邸内に八坂神社の神を祀る祠を立て、毎朝この霊水を献じていたそう。1568年に織田信長が上洛した際に御旅所は移転をされますが、この井戸の水が格別であることを聞き及んだ信長は、祇園祭の時のみこの井戸を一般に開放させたといわれています。以後、連綿とその風習が続いてきましたが、明治の終わりに烏丸通を拡張する際にもとの場所から東に移し、現在のように通りに面した井戸となりました。 Gion Matsuri limited famous water Mitarai well The Mitarai well was located in the mansion of Otabisho's corporate affairs, Fujii Sukemasa, and Sukemasa set up a shrine in the mansion to worship the god of Yasaka Shrine and offered this sacred water every morning.
