G	Gamini de Alwis on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A very peaceful place in the heart of the city. It had a ikibana exhibition with beautiful examples on the day. I wish I had read Makioka Sisters by Tanazaki before I visited Kyoto. I suggest to anyone, who is planning to visit Kyoto and Osaka region, should read the book. Some traditions and places described can still be encountered and the traditions and the culture that remain will then be better appreciated.
あ	あすかあすか on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ small temple but very pretty, nice cherry blossoms, this temple is said to be the origin of Ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement) and if you look close into the temple, you can see the actual Ikebana by a member of Ikenobo school of Ikebana.

There are not that many tourists when I was there the second time. But I remember it being way more crowded the first time (in 2015). There is no entrance fee, so that's great! The location is also very convenient!

J	Jana Zdilova on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such an amazing hidden gem, especially during the sakura season. The sakura here bloom quite early and it doesn't get too crowded. There is a starbucks right next to it from where you can also see the blooming trees. Its worth a visit even during other seasons especially if you're trying to escape the crowds.
