★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 八王子神社のある山は鏡山と呼ばれ、神社裏の山頂に6基の円墳があることから鏡山古墳群と呼ばれています。大和王権に仕えた地方豪族の墓とされているそうです。一部の標識が壊れていましたが、それ以外は整備もされているのか当時の姿を残しているようです。八王子神社の建立したのも、この古墳群と関係があるとされてます。神社境内に説明版があるのと、本殿裏に鏡山と古墳にまつわる話が刻まれた石板があるので行った際に読んでもらうと理解が深まると思います。神社裏山のため車などで行く場合は神社駐車場を使うことになると思います。
 The mountain where Hachioji Shrine is located is called Kagamiyama, and it is called the Kagamiyama Kofungun because there are six circular burial mounds on the mountaintop behind the shrine. It is said to be the tomb of a local lord who served the Yamato kingdom. Some of the signs were broken, but other than that, it seems that they are still in good condition. It is said that the construction of Hachioji Shrine is also related to this group of ancient burial mounds. There is an explanatory version in the shrine precincts, and there is a stone plate on the back of the main shrine with stories about Kagamiyama and the tumulus, so I think that you will deepen your understanding if you read it when you go. Since it is a mountain behind the shrine, I think that you will use the shrine parking lot if you go by car.
