★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 大型の家形石棺蓋を利用し、内側に阿弥陀座像を半肉彫した市の指定文化財に指定された石棺仏です。顔は残念ながら風化して輪郭のみが確認できる程度ですが、それ以外の状態は非常によく袈裟の形・しわ等のスジ掘りなど鎌倉時代後期に造られ、ここに置かれて数百年たった今も彩色の跡まで残る傑作ではないでしょうか。市内には山伏峠石棺もありどちらも傑作の石仏と思いますが、肉眼ではっきりわかる良さはこちらのほうが上です。個人的には非常に良い史跡なのですが、車で訪れた場合は評価が厳しいです。周辺に駐停車出来る場所がありません。史跡前に停めることも可能ですが、訪れて感じたのは一車線なので対向車が来た際の退避場所となる場所なので躊躇します。個人HPなどを閲覧すると史跡ウォーキングで訪れた等の記述が多いので、時間的な余裕があればサイクリングやウォーキングで立寄りたい場所です。

The face is unfortunately weathered and only the outline can be confirmed, but other conditions are very well made in the late Kamakura period, such as excavation and wrinkling, etc. Isn't it a masterpiece that remains even the trace of coloring? In the city there is a sarcophagus in the Yamabushi Pass, both of which are considered to be masterpieces of stone buddha, but the better you can see with the naked eye is here. It's a very good historical site, but it's hard to say if you visit by car. There is no place to park and stop around. It is possible to stop in front of the historic site, but I feel hesitant to visit it because it is a lane, so I will hesitate because it will be an evacuation place when oncoming vehicles come. When browsing personal HP, etc., there are many descriptions such as visiting historic sites, so if you have time, you can stop by for cycling or walking.
