It is the remains of the Choshu clan residence. It may be hard to find because it has the same color as the hotel wall. By the way, the statue of Kogoro Katsura is near the entrance of the car on the side of Kawaramachi. On the south side of Oike-dori, there is a stone monument of the Kaga domain residence.

It is right next to the parking lot entrance of Kyoto Hotel Okura. There are only stone monuments and explanations. It's not enough to go all the way, but if you like history, it's fun to stop by and imagine. According to the explanation, at the time of the Kinmon Incident, the Choshu clan set fire to the mansion when it lost, so I closed my eyes and imagined it. ?

(現地説明版より) Explanation version: Choshu clan residence ruins The area from Kawaramachi-dori to Kiyamachi-dori, from the south side of Ichinofunairi Takasegawa to Oike-dori, was the place where the Mori clan's residence of the Choshu clan (Yamaguchi prefecture) was located in the early Edo period, which was important during the Meiji Restoration. It became a political base. The clan's residence is initially divided into two parts, north and south. ) It reached the back eight rooms (about 14 meters). In the first year of the Genji era (1864), the Choshu clan, which was defeated by the Shogunate side in the imperial court centered on Aizu and Satsuma due to the Kinmon Incident (Kinmon Incident), set fire to this residence and escaped from Kyoto. The clan's residence disappeared due to this arson, but it did not spread throughout the city. (From the local explanation version)
