★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Delicious, affordable curry & coffee. In fact, the best we had in Japan. Has free wifi. Owner/chef is very friendly & provided great service. Loved everything about this place! Highly recommended. By the Ginkakuji temple bus stop, but away from the temple rather than towards it. Small sign that says "kyoto sho-an cafe".

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the best cafes in Kyoto. It’s near the silver temple, and convenient for bus routes (one just 10 metres down the road). The service is excellent and the owner is always happy to help tourists. Speaking as an English person, the tea is perfect. There is a variety of food on offer and the sides change based on what is in season. The curry and the burger are definite favourites.
The atmosphere is nice and cosy. Definitely worth a visit.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a really lovely little cafe on the way to the Philosopher’s path and Silver Pavilion. I would recommend it if you want to avoid the pricier and more crowder closer to this tourist destinations. The people who run the store are amazingly sweet and hardworking! They are what keep me coming back! They have English and Japanese menus and are very welcoming to foreigners. Also if you have room after the amazing handmade lunch, you should definitely try their matcha parfait with a fun (coffee!) surprise at the bottom!
