A small park in front of the JR Shimamotocho station. It is famous as the place where Kusunoki Masashige, who was prepared to die from Kyoto during the Nanbokucho period and faced the battle of Minatogawa in Kobe, made the final farewell to his son Masayuki. The monument written by Emperor Meiji, General Nogi of the Army and Navy, and General Togo remains.

That's why I left my child and went to Minatogawa alone.
What was your feelings about Konoe-san?
Sunday park is an event that has nothing to do with such a monument
There was a lot of excitement.

Even if you say "Kusunoki Masashige's farewell" to your child, you probably knew it ?
Even in the age of small jobs (50 this year), if you are not interested in the history of the Northern and Southern Dynasties, I think most people do not know it at all.
To put it simply, the place of farewell between his father, Kusunoki Masatsura, who is heading to the battlefield prepared for death, and his son, Kusunoki Masatsura, who is returning to Chihayaakasaka, is here at "Sakurai Station".
Here, the father tells his son that he is heading to the dead, but what I want to say to him is to devote his life to the Southern Court.
After all, no matter how you think about it, it's completely in line with modern thinking ?
I personally respect Kusunoki's parents and children!
It's quite difficult to think about it at that time because it's in front of the station with a lot of passengers, but if you expand your imagination, it might be possible. LOL

Located on the left side of the east exit of Shimamoto Station on the JR Kyoto Line, it is a park with trees. It is well-cleaned and has benches, making it a place of relaxation for nearby people. I also saw mothers with young children.
The "station" at the site of Sakurai station is not a railway station, but a government office where horses were placed on the main road about every 16km for information transmission between the central and local areas after the Taika Reform. .. Sakurai is one of the stations on the way from Kyoto to Saigoku.
In addition, many stone monuments and stone statues are built in the park as a place related to Kusunoki Masashige's father and son.

I visited by bicycle from Kuzuha in Hirakata city. There is no dedicated bicycle parking lot at the station site, so we decided to park at the toll parking lot (100 yen for 24 hours) in front of the adjacent JR Shimamoto station. A station is an important facility set up by the government as a place for horse breaks and horse transfers, which was an important means of transmitting information at that time, and was installed along the main road connecting the capital and regions during the Nara period. It seems that it was. The old road of Saigokukaido still passes by the station ruins, which is reminiscent of those days.
It is also the stage where Kusunoki Masashige broke up with his son Masayuki, heading to Minatogawa to avenge Mr. Ashikaga Takauji at the behest of Emperor Go-Daigo under the new Kenmu Restoration during the Nanbokucho period. Personally, I was watching "Taheiki" on NHK On Demand, so I was deeply moved. In addition to stone statues showing the separation of Masanari and Masayuki parents and children, a cedar tree that is said to have raised the flag of the Kusunoki army, and many stone monuments honoring Masanari were erected, which stirs up the tense atmosphere of the time. Among the stone monuments, there are stone monuments finished by the books of Maresuke Nogi and Heihachiro Togo, who are famous soldiers in modern Japan, probably because they are related to being worshiped as a war god.
I think the staying time was about 30 minutes. 30 minutes may be a little long, but it's enough time to go around the stone monuments one by one and imagine the precious stages that make up Japanese history, such as ancient stations and the turmoil of the Northern and Southern Dynasties. bottom.
