★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This hot spring りょかん is fantastic with it’s convenient transportation, living environment, food, services and also wonderful view along the creek. Even communicated in English is fine too.
Outdoor hot spring is great, you can hear creek stream, Sui youkan is Yummy. Dinner and breakfast was absolutely gorgeous, Simply Japanese style, with fresh local ingredients such as vegetables, and chicken. Amazingly with great price!
Highly recommend to stay here to enjoy a night!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stayed here for only 1 night. It was an impressive experience. I have visited Japan 4 times before but never get a chance to try Onsen since I was too shy. This place offers various choices of private bath with reasonable price including outdoor and indoor bath. Although most staff can’t speak much english, there is one female staff who can speak English well. She is responsible for taking care of most foreign visitors. We were so impressed with the staff and the facility. Will surely come back !

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have to rate as an excellent hotel. The rooms and premise are very nicely furnished. It's really great to sit in a hot tub and enjoy the cool air and scenery. In the private bath the setup is basically the same but even more open since you're presumably intimate with your partner. The city is very walkable from here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I used the onsen here on a day trip from Aizuwakamatsu (ask for "higaeri nyuyoku" 日帰り入浴 for day-only use). It opens from 1pm, and is a great deal for ¥1200. The baths themselves are very nice; two indoor and two outdoor baths, all with a scenic view of the river and waterfall. For most of my time there, I had the whole place to myself.
After bathing, help yourself to free tea, sake, beer, and ice cream, then settle into the 4th floor lounge and enjoy the views and free wi-fi while waiting for the bus back into town (the Aizu tourist bus stop is right by the entrance).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Highly recommend to stay one night in this hotel when you plan to visit Aizu. Gentle Japanese staff and well-furnished room as well as hot facilities. They offer free cold beer and soft cream as well in the corner of hot spring bath. Room view is awesome as it is located just in the river side.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent onsen ryokan. The breakfast mochi is the best I’ve ever had. The dinner is huge and very delicious. The staff are great. The room is spacious and there is the option for private onsen which is good for shy people. Many amenities. Highly recommended.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Valentine’s night we stayed at Shousuke Taki no Yado in Higashiyama Onsen. Not only was it right next to a river, you could see this waterfall while relaxing in the onsen (hot tub) on the first floor. They also had a rooftop private onsen that we treated ourselves to so we could see the stars at midnight. Our stay here felt so luxurious but for the room, included dinner, and included breakfast for a Sunday night stay it was very reasonable. It was an additional $40 to reserve the rooftop private onsen for an hour. Well worth it for a relaxing nights stay. The room as super spacious and modern with a large bed and super comfy mattress. It was the best of a traditional onsen experience with all the modern touches. The dinner menu featured local chicken and other specialties including fresh mountain vegetables. At 9:00 pm there was a free projection mapping/music show from the lobby overlooking the river theater. Lots of guests were here with their kids and there are baby bathtubs in the onsen area and free ice cream/drinks outside the onsen. We were sad to have only stayed one night. There is a bus stop right outside the door for the red Aizu sightseeing bus that you can take from the train station. Makes it super easy to get here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My wife and I and our 8 year old son stayed for a night. The location is great, right in Higashiyama Onsen right along the river. The hotel has been renovated so its quite modern and clean. Room was a bit on the small side but enough for our stay. The view was very nice.
The guest rooms are non smoking but it seems each floor has a special smoking room. On the 6th floor where we stayed, the entire hallway smells strongly of cigarette smoke. This was a bit unfortunate and was probably the biggest minus point of this ryokan.
The hotel is quite large and can be a bit confusing as to where everything is. There are quite a few baths including numerous private baths. The general baths are nice with a variety of temperatures. The private baths need to be reserved separately and most do not include a washing area but it was nice to be able to spend family time together.
We were pleasantly surprised with the food which includes local dishes pork shabu shabu and grilled fish as well as typical things like sashimi and chawanmushi (steamed egg). Our son had a dishes made specifically for kids including udon (adults had soba). Amount was plentiful and breakfast was much of the same.
Being a big hotel, with less land, there is no space for parking and you need to park your car down the hill just outside the entrance to Higashiyama Onsen in the general parking lot. It's best if you check in and don't need the car again until you leave as a shuttle bus needs to take you to your car.
Overall a good experience which was a positive addition to our Aizu Wakamatsu visit. Can be a little pricey but there are deals if you look for them.
