Documents of the guardians of the Kamakura and Muromachi periods are on display, and it is clear that Shiogama Shrine has been revered as a powerful shrine since the Heian period. There are many splendid swords dedicated by the feudal lord of the Sendai Domain in the Edo period, and sword enthusiasts will be satisfied. Surprisingly, the second floor is a natural history museum where you can learn about the fishing industry and salt making in the region.

It is a museum in Shiogama Shrine. It's a small building with a season, but the exhibits are quite substantial. The 1st floor is a cultural property such as a sword, and the 2nd floor is a material related to the fishing and salt industries. It's fun (^^)

As of June 2021, you cannot climb to the rooftop. Someone like a curator at the reception, at first I had an unfriendly image, but he answered the questions politely. Thank you very much.

A museum of festivals, votive swords and salt The flip of the commentary was written quite kindly, and it was very easy to understand. However, it was a pity that the essential lighting was just like illuminating from directly behind me, and I always felt that my shadow was on the exhibits. It may be difficult due to the structure of the building, but I wanted a little more ingenuity. The second floor has a history of salt and stuffed marine life. It's quite a big stuffed animal, so I wonder if small children will cry ... ? The stairs to the 3rd floor (rooftop) were closed, probably because of the times.

Shiogama Shrine Museum in the precincts of Shiogama Shrine Two portable shrines actually used at festivals, a dedication sword of the Sendai feudal lord, a map of the accommodation place by the lecture, a certificate of approval from Yoshida Shinto that was established in the Muromachi period, etc. are all in Japanese history and Shinto history. It is full of valuable items that come out. On the 2nd floor, there is a wide range of exhibits related to salt making from Shiogama Shrine's deity, Shiogama Ookami, which is very interesting from rock salt in each country to the industrial manufacturing method of NaCl. .. I could only see it for about 2 hours because I didn't have much time, but I thought it would be a museum I would like to visit again if possible, and I would like to visit it based on my prior knowledge of Japanese swords.

It is located on the grounds of Shiogama Shrine. Have a good time at the spectacular museum. Arms, paintings, ancient documents, books, etc. are exhibited on the first floor, but many of them are swords and many wonderful treasure swords are exhibited. Unlike the sword used in battle, it is a treasure sword presented to the castle owner, so you can see a splendid treasure sword without any stains or stains. On the second floor, you can enjoy salt exhibits, fishing materials and fossils. Unfortunately, photography is prohibited in this museum. It's a pity ... there are a lot of interesting exhibits in stunning treasure swords and armor, but I can't tell ... frustrating ... really good items and exhibits can be seen in the photos, but it's only impressive to see the real thing. Before, I wasn't interested in museums, art galleries, and memorial halls, so I didn't stop by. It happened that I had too much time to see the reviews of sightseeing spots and famous places, and I was fascinated by the photos of the museum and wanted to see the real thing. The photos are good for really wonderful things, but I'm impressed by seeing the real thing. The Shiogama Shrine Museum has many wonderful exhibits. I think that more people will be impressed by making it possible to take pictures and spreading it on SNS. I would like to look forward to it in the future.
