★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Long wait time because there is only 1 chef. You get to see him make the sushi though. A bit pricey but really tasty and the waitress can talk a bit in english. They also provide an english menu.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just delicious. Rambled in here from the nearby shrine. Had the tasting menu. Pricey but worth it. The chef just gave me loads of delicious bits and I left full and very satisfied. English menu. Waitress can talk a bit so you’ll get buy. Just enjoy the food and smile a lot.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Intimate venue with excellent food. This is a place where the ingredients are allowed to succeed on their own merits.
As other reviews have mentioned, the unagi here is wonderful, but I want to add that I enjoyed the best uni of my life (mild, and a bit sweet) plus a delicious chawanmushi. Tempura veg was also fantastic -- my companions quickly ordered a second plate of it.
Kid friendly, too -- staff were lovely with our 6yo son. Chef even offered to make wasabi-free nigiri to keep things more suitable for a child's palate.
At least one person speaks English fluently, and another is fairly close (or maybe just as fluent but more introverted). English menu available.
Highly recommend this little place with a very local feel. A+

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was all so good I wanted to cry. We got the omakase set, and I'm not sure I can name a favorite, but I agree with others the eel was amazing. I also really liked the appetizer course. The service was incomparable and the hostess was very accommodating and welcoming. They gave us recommendations/instructions which was appreciated as sometimes eating sushi in North America the niceties are lost. I can't give the entire experience enough compliments!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Magnificent sushi and service. Really my favorite restaurant in Kyoto. We ordered fatty tuna, mackerel and sweet shrimp but the real deal was the eel. Unagi gets the crown. Reservation is required. Great value for the level of cuisine you get too.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of my culinary highlights of my trip in Japan from Nov 2019. The venue was empty and made the experience so much more enjoyable. The appetizers with this sushi set were amazing and each piece of sushi better than the last. The notes and flavors felt like a crescendo ending with such a sweet note! I’d go back in a heartbeat.
