米沢藩中興の祖である上杉鷹山から手厚いもてなしを受けた、師の細井清州が弟子に送った手紙には、弟子(鷹山)の素晴らしさが溢れ出ており、一字読むごとに一涙出てきたと言うエピソードに基づく碑のようです。
 A monument to each character in the precincts of Bomun-in Temple.
The letter sent by his teacher, Kiyoshu Hosoi, who received the generous hospitality from Uesugi Takayama, the founder of the Yonezawa clan's clan, overflowed with the splendor of his disciple (Takayama). It seems to be a monument based on the episode that it came.
