★ ★ ★ ★ ★ After 25 yrs in Japan and hundreds of Japanese inns, hotsprings and Japanese hotels, I finally found the best one. The facilities, beautifully mixing traditional ''kominka'' antic house design and contemporary style, with private outdoor bath in each room, and an infinity pool type open sky comon bath with a view on the majestic Hakkaisan were simply amazing. A trully unique and remarkable experience that I recomend to anyone looking to experience real Japanese aesthetic and hospitality.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is exceptional. If you’re looking for something world class, with all the comforts, yet extremely “Japanese”, this is it. The hotel is a converted farm house, with an extraordinary attention to detail, but it retains rustic elements and timber details. The timber ceiling structure in the lobby is impressive!
The baths are a highlight, if you like onsen, which I do! They have organic shampoo, conditioner and body wash from Australia available in the public bath, which is a luxurious addition. The artwork is all handpicked to match the mid century modern furniture, which compliments the overall theme in a very satisfying way.
The food...wow! The food is unlike anything else I’ve come across. Most of the produce is either grown on the grounds, foraged from nearby mountains, or bought from farms within a 5km radius. They use traditional snow covered rooms to preserve food during winter, which I don’t think I have ever seen before. The kitchen team must be working tirelessly to provide the meals, which are presented more like works of art than a typical meal. I strongly suggest booking the dinner course.
Honestly, I’ve been here in just about every season of the year, and I can’t decide which I prefer. Whatever season you find yourself in Japan, looking for a fabulous experience, you owe it to yourself to book a few nights here!
