★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very impressive and imposant wooden temples. Note that one of the gate of the complex and the Buddha of the two temples as well as their section are close until 2022

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice pavillion to walk by and feel a little bit of the japanese energy that is all around the place. As I went there early in the morning, the whole complex was closed and with no one single soul. It was peaceful, and beautiful! I definitely recommend a visit there!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nishi Hongan-ji is a Jōdo Shinshū Buddhist temple in the Shimogyō ward of Kyoto, Japan. It is one of two Jōdo Shinshū temple complexes in Kyoto, the other being Higashi Hongan-ji. Jōdo Shinshū is a school of Pure Land Buddhism, and today Nishi Hongan-ji serves as the head temple of the organization

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Jodo Shinshu Buddhist path, mostly knows as Nishi(means west) Honwgan-ji was founded during Kamakura era, had been worked as one of the most influential shools of Buddhism in Japan.
Thy have two main hall, Amidado ( Hall of Amida Buddha) is your right side, and Goeido ( Founder's Hall ) is your left when you stand in front of these architecture. Amidado had rebuilt in 1760, and Goeido had rebuilt in 1636.
Three of their architecture are recognised as national tresures, two other buildings are are important cultural asset by the government.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is the headquarters of one of Japan’s larger Buddhist sects. Worlds largest wooden structure, and it is constructed with the precision n detail of a piece of furniture (as are most all of the traditional houses n temples n shrines in Japan).
It’s open to anyone, free, and the main temple is also open to anyone, but please be polite and follow the rules and customs when you go in the main temple hall. Don’t know the rules n customs? I don’t either, but just watch n wait for a while and then do the Monkey See Monkey Do.
Amazing detail in decoration and construction. See pic. The office building (lobby) is air conditioned and has free toilets.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very big temple. We have seen many people praying.
There is a library. We have seen very few tourists. Don't know why. But in my opinion. This is the best temple in Kyoto.
There was renovation work ongoing. Still it was open for praying.
Good place and accessible.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The black and white theme of this temple is beautiful. The aesthetic of the temple is very different than others and you can really see the craftsmanship in this temple. It is a very large temple and one of the highlights is that you can sit inside the main room. It is a fairly big place so you'll spend a bit of time here exploring the grounds.
Other temples and shrines are just external viewing, but here, you can actually sit inside and enjoy the interior and the religious aspect of it. Don't be so nervous to enter, there are instructions to enter and what to do and not to do. All you need is to remember to take off your shoes and no food and snacks and your set.
