★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Probably the best hotel I’ve stayed in so far but the price I paid you’d expect.
Rooms were roomy and very well designed. New and clean. Located close to the Kyoto station it suited my needs.
I would have given it a 5 star only for a number of issues that I wasn't comfortable with.
First on check-in I was asked for my credit card. I informed her that I already paid but they wanted it for security reasons. I had never been asked this at any of the other hotels I had stayed in. Usually I wouldn’t mind but she ran my card through the computer, fine. But she then took a carbon copy of it. I wasn’t happy with this as anyone can steal the card details. There would be no way of finding out who stole your card details. They need to stop this practice.
Secondly they charged me for using their pool, not much but it’s the fact that I had paid good money to stay in their hotel I should be allowed use their facilities. Pool was really good though and staff friendly.
I was put in the 7th floor, the smell of smoke was terrible. When checking in she said smoking and I asked for no smoking. She told me that I had already been allocated a room and she couldn’t change it.
Overall a nice hotel but they need to respect their clients more and their needs.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice and fairly spacious Western style hotel, close to the train station (but more than that, the train line) which is convenient but adds some noise. The impression here is that the place is rather sterile, and for the price you can often get better in Kyoto. Bar and restaurants are available, but it's highly recommended to go out of the hotel to get better experiences for both.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stayed there for 4 days last year. Originally when booked we booked a smokers room by error. We only found out about this when we checked in. Staff was really helpful in getting it sorted and upgrading us to a suite without any extra cost. That's great service we would have to say. We will be staying there next time as well for sure.
PS: Hotel itself is old and can do with some renovations compared to the ones in Tokyo but one of the better ones in Kyoto.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This hotel is a bit dated but still in relatively good shape. There is a roof top restaurant offering some gourmet breakfast while twirling around the Kyoto scenery. Pricey but perhaps an indulgence of sorts. I think this hotel had every conceivable convenience trinket even those which have been discontinued in most 5 star hotels.
It also came with the highest water pressure observed on earth. If you like high powered showers which there is no doubt you need not do a rain dance in to get wet, then this is your place. For added amusement, turn on the massage stream. I am sure before you know it your skin layers will come off, even the live layer.
One star has been deducted from this review because:
- There is a pool but the pool closes 21:00 but entrance closes 20:00. Honestly why? The idea of a facility is that it can be used, not to gawk at through a window.
- There is a sauna facility attached to the pool but there is an extra charge or they have even more restricted opening hours. I say that because I got mixed messages two different days.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really nice hotel. The rooms are modern and spacious, with a very relaxing zen design. I absolutely loved all the small and thoughtful amenities in the room - even for high Japanese standards the toiletries, coffee and tea the hotel gives you are great and add to the experience. Staff was also amazingly friendly.
Only small thing is that the shower could not keep the same temperature.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I’m not that satisfied, the help desk didn’t give us the a better room. This room is old, the toilet sink faucet is shaking, there’s a blood like stain on the carpet, compare from the rooms that’s been shown here online it looks good but what we have is not. I don’t think we got what we’ve paid for!. I booked this hotel because of it’s a 4star hotel. The hotel itself may be a 4 star but the room that they gave us, I’ll give a rating of 2.5 star. They said on the booking website that you will have a city view but we’ve got rail road tracks view.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Convenient Location . Hotel staff did not seem to be friendly. When I checked in, they asked for upfront payment for my stay of 4 nights which was unexpected. General practice is to pay during check-out. Staff struggled with English.
Storage space in room was literally non-existent . Breakfast at Kaza Restaurant was only good point of stay. There is no kids space. My pre schooler son was very bored in hotel on a rainy day. Not a kid friendly hotel.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My first night in this place was horrible. I was in a room where the bathroom had mold on the walls and ceiling. The room and bathroom had trash on the floor. I complained about it and they were nice to swapped me to a different room. The second room was decent (no different from the first one, except a little better in cleanliness). The rooms are small and the staff are not friendly as the rest of Japan since we came with a lot of bags because we are staying for eight nights in overall for our trip and they didn’t offer me help. The next day, when I was in the lobby waiting for my wife, I noticed the concierge called the bellhop to help multiple customers with their bags. That wasn’t the case for me and I was wondering if their action towards me is because I am not from here. The beds are very uncomfortable for sleeping, the mattress is hard. Like I said above, there is almost no space for your luggage in the room. I stayed in a hotel in Tokyo at the same category and the customer service and rooms were 100% better than this place so it is not Japan. This is just my opinion. Good luck if you decided to stay here.
