「小畑一号墳」は駟馳山峠東側の山裾に分布する八基の古墳からなる小畑古墳群の一つです。場所的には日本海、川、沼地を見下ろし駟馳山の小高い場所に居住して海と山からの狩猟生活を送っていた事でしょう。古代人にとり快適な場所でした。その近くに古墳群があります。案内板には横穴式石室を持ち、長さ11.2㍍、玄室の高い所の高さは3.5㍍とあります。(かなりの広さと高さです)また近郷の人々により玄室の周囲に三十三体の石像(観世音菩薩)が奉られて(穴観音)と呼ばれるようになったとあります。「小畑一号墳」は平成2年まで(穴観音)として近郷の人々が集まり供養の念仏の場所として現役でした。現在は崩落の危険のために出入りは禁止で出入口には柵があります。その一方で(穴観音)はその後はそこから移動してすぐ上の旧道沿いに奉られ人々の変わらぬ崇敬の象徴です。

(It is quite large and high) It is said that 33 people stone statues (Kanzeon Bodhisattva) were enshrined around the entrance room by people in the nearby area and came to be called (Ana Kannon). The “Obata Ichi Mound” was still active until 1990 (Anakannon) as a place for memorial Buddhist memorial gathering of people from nearby areas. Currently, there is a fence at the entrance and exit due to the danger of collapse. On the other hand, (Ana Kannon) is a symbol of the constant reverence of the people who were moved from there and served immediately along the old road.
