人馬が歩き滑らないように石畳が当時を偲ばせ再現されています。
川の流れのような美観です。
今から約200年前の江戸文化8年(1811年)に巡礼の(六部 多十郎)が多くの旅人の峠越え難儀の解消を発心し、約2年をかけて雨雪に泥濘する道に石を敷いて実現させました。
幅2㍍長さ152㍍の石畳が埋もれていましたが掘り起こした際に顔を出しました。埋め込まれた石の一つ一つをよく見るとその中には小さな丸い点々が印影しています。
当時の通行時の痕跡です。
側の説明文は(馬の蹄跡)とあります。
「駟馳山峠の石畳道」は当時の旅人の往来時の息遣いが聞こえてくるようで心が動きました。
