★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 雁金山への登り口(平和塔登り口)にひっそりとあります。赤松八幡宮跡は安土桃山時代の戦国武将で播磨の国、竹田城主赤松広通氏の御霊を祭っていた旧跡です。
元々は豊臣秀吉の直臣で関ヶ原の戦いでは西軍の石田三成に味方して戦いました。戦いの途中に敵方の東軍方で懇意ある亀井茲矩(かめいこれのり)の説得を入れ、西軍宮部長房の居城鳥取城を攻め落としに、ここ湯所口から攻め入りました。
その落城に際し、城、城下の家等々を焼き払い甚大な被害を与えたという
咎めを徳川家康から受けました。
1600年(慶長5年)10月28日、眞教寺において自刃なさいました。(生年39)
