霧	霧隠 on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 江戸時代初期。この辺りに(桜ヶ池)と呼ばれた不忍池より大きな池があった。その後、桜ヶ池は茶屋のお玉の名前を取って(お玉ヶ池)となった。しかし、江戸府内の人口増加に伴い、神田山を崩してお玉ヶ池を埋め立て、そこに人家を建てた。江戸時代後期。この地に剣術家の千葉周作が玄武館と呼ばれる道場を建てた。当時江戸では、力の斎藤、位の桃井、技の千葉と言われていた。千葉道場の特長は、従来の武士だけに偏った剣術を防具や竹刀を使い、万人にも分かりやすく理論的に教えたので、町人も大勢詰めかけたりして繁栄した。流儀名は北辰一刀流。北辰とは北極星の事。因みに、道場名の四神の一つの玄武をつけた。四神とは、方位を司る霊獣の事。北が玄武、東は青龍、南は朱雀、西は白虎。幕末には、弟の千葉貞吉の道場を含めて多くの志士を輩出した。坂本竜馬もその一人。彼の考え方もこの道場の教え方が、かなり影響を与えたのかも知れない。今は、ビルの間の殆ど日の当たらない細い路地に小さなお玉稲荷神社が当時の繁栄を伝えている。 Early Edo period.
