★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 鳥居塚古墳は，市の南部にあり，地下鉄富沢駅の東約400mに位置する。笊川右岸の標高約10mの自然堤防上に立地し，面積は約600㎡である。五反田古墳や王ノ壇古墳，春日社古墳などとともに大野田古墳群を構成する古墳のひとつである。初めて発掘調査が実施された昭和52年(1977)当時は，墳丘の一部が残存していた。調査は市道・春日通線拡幅整備工事に伴い仙台市教育委員会によって実施され，円墳と考えられた。その後，平成8年(1996)の富沢駅周辺土地区画整理事業に伴う発掘調査で西側に前方部が確認され，前方後円墳であることが判明した。
 The Toriizuka Tumulus is located in the southern part of the city, about 400m east of Tomizawa Subway Station. It is located on a natural levee on the right bank of the Zaru River at an altitude of about 10 m, and has an area of about 600 m2. It is one of the tumuli that make up the Onoda tumulus group, along with the Gotanda tumulus, the Onoda tumulus, and the Kasugasha tumulus. At the time of the first excavation survey in 1977, a part of the mound remained. The survey was carried out by the Sendai City Board of Education due to the widening work of the city road and Kasuga-dori line, and was considered to be a circular burial mound. After that, an excavation survey associated with the land readjustment project around Tomizawa Station in 1996 confirmed the front part on the west side, and it was found to be a keyhole-shaped tumulus.
