袋前遺跡は，市の南部にあり，JR長町駅の南西約1kmに位置する。地下鉄富沢駅東側の自然堤防上に立地しており，標高は約10mで，面積は約23,000㎡である。仙台市教育委員会により平成10年(1998)，13年，16年に発掘調査が実施され，古墳時代から古代，中世，近世の遺構が検出されている。古墳時代後期の遺構として，竪穴住居跡1軒が発見されている。奈良～平安時代の遺構は掘立柱建物跡の他に溝跡，土坑などが発見されている。このうち，西側の建物跡は，大野田官衙遺跡の主要な建物跡である。建物の東側にほぼ平行して伸びる溝跡からは桶巻(おけまき)作りの瓦や土師器・須恵器が出土している。また，平安時代の畑跡と考えられる小溝状遺構群も検出されており，広範囲に畑作が行われていたものと考えられる。

The Fukumae Ruins are located in the southern part of the city, about 1km southwest of JR Nagamachi Station. It is located on the natural levee on the east side of Tomizawa Subway Station, with an altitude of about 10 m and an area of about 23,000 m2. Archaeological excavations were carried out by the Sendai City Board of Education in 1998, 2001, and 2004, and remains of ancient, medieval, and early modern times have been detected since the Kofun period. One pit dwelling site has been discovered as a remains of the late Kofun period. In the remains of the Nara-Heian period, in addition to the remains of excavated pillar buildings, the remains of ditches and pits have been discovered. Of these, the ruins of the building on the west side are the main ruins of the Onoda government site. Tile made by Okemaki and Haji pottery and Sue pottery have been excavated from the groove traces that extend almost parallel to the east side of the building. In addition, a group of small groove-shaped remains, which are thought to be the remains of fields during the Heian period, were also detected, and it is probable that upland farming was carried out extensively.
