1185年の壇ノ浦の戦いで平家は源氏に敗れました。平清盛の妻 平時子二位の尼は三種の神器とともに安徳天皇遠抱いて海に身を投げた。その亡骸が宮島の有之裏に流れ着いた言われています。
このお話を灯籠の前のお店の博多屋のご主人に聞きました。灯籠にも様々な謂れが有るんですね。
 The shape of the lantern is beautiful.
Heike was defeated by Genji in the Battle of Dannoura in 1185. Taira no Kiyomori's wife, Taira no Tokiko's second-ranked nun, threw herself into the sea with three sacred treasures, embracing Emperor Antoku. It is said that the corpse has drifted to the back of Ariyuki in Miyajima.
I asked the owner of Hakataya, the shop in front of the lantern, about this story. There are various so-called lanterns.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 1185年の壇ノ浦の戦いで、安徳天皇を抱いて海に身を投じた二位の尼の亡き骸が、宮島の砂浜に流れ着いたと云われている。この石灯籠には、幕末に宮島の神泉寺で安徳天皇と二位尼を供養したことが記されている。
（この石灯籠の文言は判読できなかったが、宮島本にそのように書いてあった。）
It is said that at the Battle of Dannoura in 1185, the dead body of the second-ranked nun who embraced Emperor Antoku and threw himself into the sea drifted to the sandy beach of Miyajima. It is written in this stone lantern that the Emperor Antoku and the second-ranked priest were memorialized at Shinsenji Temple in Miyajima at the end of the Tokugawa shogunate.
(The wording of this stone lantern was unreadable, but it was written as such in Miyajima's book.)
