雄島からは松島湾を見渡す事ができ、良い景色です。
比較的観光客が少ないので、雄島はゆっくり見て回れ、古びた建物と石碑は歴史を感じます。
雄島の南端に頼賢の碑があり、鞘堂の中に納っている。
直接はっきりと観察することは出来ないが、案内板に詳しく書かれている。
頼賢はここに22年間住み、その間ついに一歩も島を出なかったと伝えられている。
