★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 境内の由来碑によれば、文政5（1822）年頃から形成された三島の集落は、涸沼川と涸沼前川の合流点近くに位置する豊かな水田地帯だが、反面しばしば水害に悩まされてきた。当社の御祭神は岡象女命。弘化元（1844）年創建。その後改修移転等幾変遷を経て、平成5年に修復された御本殿を除き、平成13年に全て新築し整備されたそうです。
南隣には三島公民館。わずかな民家を除き、広々とした水田が遥かに続いています。ここは往古には広大な涸沼川の川底だったのでしょう。そしてすぐ南方の涸沼川の堤防を見、実り豊かなこの地と川と人との長い戦いに思いを馳せました。
 According to the monument of origin in the precincts, the village of Mishima, which was formed around 1822, is a rich paddy field located near the confluence of the Hinuma and Hinuma Mae rivers, but on the other hand, it has often suffered from flood damage. Our deity is Oka Elephant. Founded in 1844. After a number of changes such as renovation and relocation, all the buildings were newly built and maintained in 2001, except for the main shrine, which was restored in 1993.
Mishima Public Hall is next to the south. Except for a few private houses, the spacious rice fields continue far. This was probably the bottom of the vast Hinuma River in ancient times. Immediately after seeing the embankment of the Hinuma River to the south, I thought of the long battle between this fruitful land, the river, and people.
