One of the peak view of Kyoto. The othe rpeak view that I visited was Fushimi Inari Taisha (on the 6th level). The view is AMAZING!!! And, well, the view is worth the effort, so be prepared for some stamina-drenched activities. The peak it self is not difficult to reach, and require less high-level activities to be there. I compared it with my personal experience in Lion Peak, Hong Kong, which imo is one of the hardest ladder climbing peak ever, reaching the peak with almost no breath at all! Once you reach the peak, you could view Kyoto from afar, from part of northen area to the central western part of Kyoto. It is marvelous and photo-able. But most importantly, enjoy the view with your own eye.

Short hike, natural trail. Good view of Kyoto near the Katsura River

Started walking up here by accident, but then decided not to quit and made it to the top. The hike wasn't too hard, was quite muddy, humid, narrow, and a little steep sometimes, but all worth it in the end. About a 30 minute trek up so it isn't too much trouble as I saw an elderly couple making their way to the top. The beautiful scenery with the mountains on the left and the city to the right is perfect for so many pictures. There isn't a lot of space on the path nor at the top so please be careful when travelling in groups.

Great view with an easy hike up. It only took about 30~45 mins. To find the trail head walk through the Arashiyama grove and then to the left you’ll see a small shrine overlooking a pond. Head to the shrine about 100ft and you’ll find a flight of stairs. Go up the stairs and turn left on path. You’ll see a small trail to your right.

Enjoyable hiking path aside from the main areas of the bamboo forest which is overrun by tourists. This is one of the many beautiful sights that Kyoto's surroundings can offer. Definitely hike here as well as at the Fushimi Inari shrine (up mount Inari).

A nice 40mins hike up for a nice view. Recommend if you really like steep climbs. If not your legs will hurt the next day, just like mine ?

Easy to access (about 20 - 30 min trekking from the gate) but beautiful Kyoto city view. No landmark at the summit though.

A wonderful hike and easy to get it. About 30 mins to go all the way up, instruction is clear. The path is easy with fences at the side and the view is stunning! I was the only one who did the whole hike by myself and I did not encounter any human being along the way! Absolutely love the tranquility around 4-5pm in the Sunday afternoon in the beginning of July. The weather is cool, it rains a little in between but no big deal because tons of big trees can cover it for you, remember to bring a hat/cap and small umbrella if needed. Also, mountain shoes or sneakers that can prevent slippery because the road can get a bit slippery if it rains a little bit.
