★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 遺構の上に屋根があり薄暗い上に、金網で囲ってあるので見づらいです。自分が見た当時は秋ごろで、枯葉が構内に積もっていたのもマイナスポイント。
It is hard to see because there is a roof on the remains and it is dim and surrounded by wire mesh. When I saw it, it was around autumn and dead leaves were piled up on the premises.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 柄のついた手鏡のような形をした敷地に、敷石をした住居の跡、という意味らしいです。遺跡そのものではなく、復元されたものらしいです。屋根に覆われてはいますが、周りは柵で囲われているだけなので、はっきりと様子を見ることができます。
日立の研究所の横、団地やマンションの中の、小さな児童公園にある遺跡です。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 国分寺崖線の崖の上には、縄文遺跡がたくさん発見されていますが、この遺跡もその一つで、縄文時代中期、約４千年前の住居跡で、住居の形が手で持つ柄鏡の形をしており、また、河原石を敷き詰めているのが特徴で、柄鏡形敷石住居跡と呼ばれています。
この地方の当時の縄文土器は、勝坂式土器と呼ばれており、特徴ある造形をしています。
縄文時代が終わり、次の弥生時代になると遺跡は皆無に近い状態になります。
このあたりは、水が少なく、農業には適さなかった為でしょうか。
本格的に農地が開かれたのは、時代が大きく下り、江戸時代になり、玉川上水が開通し、多くの分水路が出来るまで待つこととなったようです。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 団地の公園の一角に復元した縄文時代中期から後期初頭にかけての住宅跡?
特に床面に平らな河原石を敷き、入口となる長い張出し部を持っている事でその丸い鏡面に長方形の柄を付けた"柄鏡"に似た形になっている事が珍しくてその雰囲気からその名が命名されたらしいです?
しっかりと屋根も付けてそしてその敷地内に入らせないようにフェンスで囲っているのが珍しかったです?
フェンス越しからもしっかりと住居跡が確認できるのが嬉しかった???
一応この公園一帯が旧石器時代から縄文時代末までの200軒近くの当時の住宅地だったらしいのも感慨深かったです?
