★ ★ ★ ★ ★ So glad that I didn't get in at Tsuta Michelin star ramen the first day I went. So Menya Imamura was my alternate ramen option.
The shop serves a solid bowl of creamy chicken broth ramen with either shoyu flavor or salt based for only 800 yen. The ramen accompanied by mushroom oil and grated ginger on the side which you can add in the soup to improve the taste. Very unique condiments for ramen but it works brilliantly well. To make your ramen experience even better, please add semi-cooked marinated egg (100 yen) I'm a loyal fan of those savory runny eggs.
While you sitting at the counter, you can watch the shop owner grilling chicken chashu right in front of you and that will increase your appetite immensely.
The creamy chicken soup taste complex, slightly smoky kick, rich and light at the same time. I don't understand how they pulled off this magical soup, it's absolutely crazy.. in a good way.
Chicken chashu may not sound exciting for many people, including me lol. I always support & preferred pork for ramen all the way. But chicken chashu from this shop was incredibly flavorful and literally melted in my mouth. It's a perfect example of simple ingredient elevated to the next level.
I would literally visit this shop at least once a week but unfortunately I don't get to stay that long in Tokyo.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the best ramen restaurant I had in Japan! Located nearby Sugamo Station, you have to go if you love ramen, or if you never had tori-niboshi ramen : rolled chicken thighs on a barbecue! It it served with 2 delicious soups, one salt-based and one soy-based. The staff is super nice and helpful, and I can't say enough good things about this restaurant, but the main one is that it is the place I miss the most since I got back ! I advise everyone to try it !

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A flavourful and well balanced ramen! The ramen comes with a lemon-garlic side as well as a mushroom one for you to change the profile of your broth. The meat is juicy and tender which will leave you wanting more.
The staff are very friendly and an English menu is available. Would come again!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice little ramen spot just a block down the street from the local subway station. Broth is suprisingly rich and flavorful with a subtle fishy flavor, sardines I think, on top of the chicken for that umami balanced taste. It comes with a side of ginger and mushrooms. Def add those in. The slices of chicken are grilled on a charcoal grill by the chef and is both tender and flavorful with a nice char. Price per bowl was about 800-900 yen depending on the flavor choice (salt or soy sauce). Give it a try if you are adventurous and want to a try a different style of ramen than your typical pork broth.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the best ramen spots in Tokyo. The broth is chicken and sardine based, the noodles are thick and chewy, and the slices of charcoal grilled chicken on top just melt in your mouth.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely brilliant place. Genuine, humble and delicious. We were in the area looking for "Michelin stars" but we got gobsmacked by the amount of time some people are willing to wait for a bowl of ramen. We looked a bit more and we found this place. Full with locals, and smelling delicious. Bowl served in two minutes. Executed wonderfully in its simplicity, it was exquisite. We'll be back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Tried the Chicken Shoyu (soy sauce) ramen. There’s lemon ginger, kinoko (mushroom) oil & vinegar with chili so you have different ways of enjoying the soup. Ended up ordering additional chicken chashu rice to enjoy with the remaining soup. Only counter seats (max. 14?) so the place isn’t recommended for a big group. Unlike other ramen places, you pay at the counter after eating. All in all a good experience.
PS: As the restaurant is small, air ventilation is limited, so take that into consideration during this pandemic..

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the very best ramen I have tasted. Cheap and delicious. The best part is the chicken meat, deliciously charcoal-grilled. Don't miss this place if you happen to be in Sugamo.
