I had to climb 529 steps and wide stairs that were difficult to climb, but the scenery was outstanding.

In 1808, Confucian scholar Kimihei Gamo made Emperor Saga's tomb the summit of Mount Asahara. Originally there is a group of megaliths, which seems to have been filled. It may be an ancient ritual site. On his death, Emperor Saga will not build a seal, do not pile up the soil, and the casket is enough for the hole. I wished for a thorough burial without cultivating the trees for a long time without planting trees and leaving them in the bush. Immediately after the funeral, he was buried in an unknown mountain. The location became unknown during the Kamakura period. He gave Toji to Kukai, admitted the establishment of the Mahayanadan in the clearest, and raised Heian Buddhism. The scenery from the 99th fold to the Yamajo Tomb is superb. Even if this is the tomb of the Saga Emperor, even if it isn't, it may have been that the emperor stood in this place overlooking the Imperial Palace Sagain (now Daikakuji).

The stairs are well maintained so it is easy to climb. On the way back, be careful of your feet and get off on a secret road.

It is a tomb on the top of the mountain, and you can reach the trailhead in about 10 minutes from the bus stop of Daikakuji Temple. The mountain road is maintained like a hiking course, and I have passed many times with people who are thought to be locals. The scenery you can see here and there is a spectacular view worth climbing.

It takes about 15 minutes from the entrance of the worship road to the worship place on the mountain with the feet of an adult man. Gradually climb the maintained stone steps. I felt that it was a valuable spot where you could see both Osawa Pond (Daikakuji Temple) and Hirosawa Pond at the same time under the distant view of Kyoto city that you could see along the way. From the tomb on the hill facing south, where you can see the city, you can see not only the land of Saga, but also Toji Temple and Mt. Koya, which are related to Kukai (Kobo Daishi), and I was deeply moved. .. You can go around the side road next to the place of worship. Also, there is a branch on the way and it seems that you can go somewhere, but it is unconfirmed. [Information] The 52nd emperor and the second prince of Emperor Kanmu. It is counted as one of the three strokes along with Kukai (Kobo Daishi) and Tachibana no Hayana. He died at Sagano (Daikakuji), where he spent his last years. 786 (Enryaku 5 years) -842 (Jowa 9)

You can reach the summit only with the maintained stairs. There are only mountain tombs on the summit and nothing else, and there is no view, but there are several places along the way where you can almost see the city of Kyoto. You can see from Kyoto Tower to Mt. Inari and Mt. Hiei with the rural scenery spreading west from Hirosawa Pond and Osawa Pond in the foreground. It is a very beautiful mountain ridge that is carefully managed by the locals. The mountain ridge can be turned from both sides to the back, and if you proceed from the left side, you will find the famous mystery zone "Blood Pond". Although it is a large puddle rather than a pond, it does not wither for some reason even after many years, and for some reason it is often dyed red.

The tomb itself is not so impressive, but the climb up the 440 or so steps is exhilarating and there are some great views. From the rear of the shrine you can strike off along a ridge and get access to the Kyoto Trail.
