★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We visited Matsucho in April 2019 for dinner, and were warmly greeted by both the hostess Maki and the regulars that were visiting the restaurant this evening.
We had a splendid meal and a very cosy evening with plenty of conversations with the everybody in the restaurant.
If we ever go to Kyoto again we will no doubt visit Matsucho, as this was one of our fond memories of Japan.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A quiet little neighborhood restaurant. The owner's family has run this restaurant for over 300 years. As tourists we were staying nearby and she welcomed us in, introduced us to her two friendly regular customers, and served us a lovely Kyoto traditional meal. It was a great first night in Kyoto and I look forward to visit again someday.
