Great place for a day trip. There are many traditional shops along the way to look at. Continue all the way up the top of the hill to see the waterfalls. Not too overcrowded with tourists yet so I would recommend visiting here if you are nearby. Relatively easy to access from Nagoya if you rent a car.

This place is definitely worth a visit. This old trading post is very beautiful but in my opinion way too polished and renovated. It lacks a lot of authenticity and you feel more like being in a Disney version of an old Japanese trading post. In that sense it is very different from Tsumago which marks the other end of the famous Tsumago-Magome hiking trail. There is a lot of shops in town where you can get anything you would expect from a Japanese tourist site. Mit the town really is cute and if you enjoy these polished nice towns this will certainly be something for you.

Beautifully preserved Edo period post town. Be sure to arrive before the invasion of the tourist buses. This is a popular destination. But don't let that deter you. Despite being a tourist attraction, Magome retains a lot of its historical charm and is a great way to spend an afternoon just wandering the cobbled streets, tasting snacks, visiting shops and taking photos

This town is very representative to an ancient Japanese town. The buildings and houses are very aesthetic to this culture (if this sentence make any sense). The shops are very unique itself. Each and very shop have there uniqueness. Therefore, they have their own sweets, clothes and goods.

This place is MAGICAL!! We came during the sunniest days of the year, but the temperature was just perfect. Staying here is a little pricey, but well worth it. Check it out if you want to experiment with some of Japan’s true beauty and majesty unlike any other. Highly recommend

Gorgeous elevated village in the mountains, you walk up one long path lined with tourist trap-type souvenir shops and some genuinely interesting sights, such as old fashioned water mills. There’s a clutch of nice old fashioned soba restaurants too that are worth a look. At the top of the hill there’s an observation post where you can see the whole surrounding mountainous area. If you get a clear day, the view is amazing.
