★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely budget accommodation. The lodging is a temple with tatami mat rooms, Japanese bedding, and a beautiful Zen garden. I was surprised that the dinner and breakfast were pretty Western, even American. The lady who helped me was lovely: her English was good, she was warm, and being the only guest, she made efforts to accommodate the meals around my schedule. The facilities are outdated, but it's still great value for your money, and the Magome-Tsumago region is beautiful.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ An amazing sight on a sunny day. What made this more special was that I had hiked the Nakasendo trail from Tsumago to Magome (back in 2015), so this was the final scene before descending into Magome. A great trail capped off, but a great scene.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ You can drive all way up to the pass and the parking is free. Then stroll around the rather touristy village (feel abit like Yufuin). This is perhaps the most popular postal town along rhe Nakasendo trail

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A must visit if you happen to be sightseeing at Magome, the Edo period post town. A beautiful view of the valley and Magome in the corner. Especially on a sunny day it's really quite stunning
