Y	Yie Hou Lee on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Quite a sanctuary among the hilly woods - Kyukmura is a lovely hotel with onsens, modern facilities and seasonal activities without losing the traditional Japanese spirit and hospitality. Kyukamura has 2 indoor onsens, each linked to an outdoor onsens, a nice waiting lounge area, and a small cafe outside the restaurant (one of two places in Nyuto that serves lunch). The breakfast and dinner buffets are quite a spread, and if you are starting to get wearied by often-seen kaiseki served in ryokans, the diversity offered by the buffet is greatly welcomed. One would feel pampered with onsens which are well maintained and equipped, the waters are at the right temperature; in particular one would enjoy the falling snow while soaking in the outdoor bath surrounded by beech trees. The staff are friendly and patient which they do not speak English. Ladies also get to choose their yukata and winter jackets were available for borrowing for personal outdoor activities in the snowy winter when I was there.

Love the atmosphere of the resort, great onsen, quiet environment, best food and service. We pre-order a special meal plan while making the reservation, which was served in a room away from the buffet dining room. Waiter/waitress would introduce every single dish and serve the food according to your eating speed. The buffet breakfast was fresh and tasty, and guess what? A barista awaited there to serve delicious pour over coffee! A freshly brewed hot coffee in the morning! what more could you ask for?
C	Candice S on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A rare onsen resort in the area with Western rooms as well as Japanese futon style. The gender separate onsen baths are great, the ladies get two indoor and one outdoor, with views of the tree tops. Excellent value- we paid AUD$160 per person, per night including buffet breakfast and buffet dinner. The buffets are a highlight as they feature traditional as well as regional Japanese fare! Best reached by hiring a car (driving in the area is super easy as there's hardly any traffic), it's a manageable drive to all the attractions in the area like Tazawako lake, Dakigaeri Gorge. The staff speak very little English but are helpful anyway. Loved the Japanese style room with tatami mats and futons, with mountain views. Be aware there is no bathroom (only toilet and sink) in the rooms - showering / washing is done in the communal onsen.
